Andrew Lawton has been fighting for freedom and conservative values his whole career. Now, he wants to take that fight to Ottawa to be your voice in Parliament as the Conservative MP for Elgin—St. Thomas—London South.
Andrew is a journalist, broadcaster, and bestselling author with deep roots in our community. He is a longtime fighter for freedom and conservatism and a proud, patriotic Canadian.
Andrew has been a voice for common sense and conservative values in our community as a popular talk radio host on Global News Radio 980 CFPL in London. He took that fight national and joined True North, Canada’s leading conservative media organization.
As the managing editor of True North, Andrew has been on the front lines of Canadian politics, holding Justin Trudeau’s government to account and pushing back on woke nonsense. He has been telling the stories that matter to Canadians of all stripes – including those in small communities so often overlooked by the Laurentian elites and Ottawa.
Andrew is the author of two bestselling books that told the truth about important conservative stories the legacy media were getting wrong. Pierre Poilievre: A Political Life, is a biography of the Conservative Party of Canada leader and next prime minister. The Freedom Convoy: The Inside Story of Three Weeks that Shook the World, is the authoritative account of what really happened in Ottawa when the truckers got to town in 2022.
Andrew is an active member of our community, volunteering on the board of Suicide Prevention Middlesex-London. He is a licensed gun owner and member of the East Elgin Sportsmen’s Association. He is also a director for the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, a national civil liberties charity. He lives in London with his wife Jennifer who used to work for the St. Thomas Times-Journal and grew up in Dorchester.
Andrew has a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in history from Western University in London.
In 2019, Andrew defeated the Trudeau government in court in a landmark press freedom case, with Lawton v Canada (Leaders’ Debates Commission) ensuring all journalists could report on the federal election debates and not just Trudeau’s chosen few.
Andrew has written a national column for Global News and has been published in the Washington Post, the National Post, the Globe and Mail, and on FoxNews.com. He has appeared on CTV, TVO, BBC and GB News in the United Kingdom. He’s also been on CBC, but don’t worry, he’s still committed to defunding it with Pierre Poilievre.
He has interviewed countless people on his broadcasts, including Jordan Peterson, Stephen Harper, Florence Henderson, the Backstreet Boys, and even Justin Trudeau (Andrew asks that you don’t hold it against him).
